There's so many things I'm trying to manifest into reality & I've decided that I need to focus my energy in other areas.
I'm really sad about taking this mini hiatus because my blog has become such a big part of my life, but this momentary set-back will help me in the future.

I've been counting down the months until my next birthday, so I can celebrate "birthday week"; I treat myself to something small over the course of seven days & embrace another year added to my life. One thing, I love better than "birthday week" is people who celebrate their birthday in a big way & SUPERCW takes the cake.
Christa Wittmier (@supercw) throws the best parties hands down & celebrates her birthday in a big way with The BEST EVER! event, which was a combination birthday celebration/POW WOW Hawaii 2012 fundraiser/dance party.
I can't believe Christa helped to transform a warehouse in Kaka'ako into a venue, covered in art by some of Hawaii's talented artists; the BEST EVER! event had a stunning fashion show (thank you for the VIP seating:), continuous slideshow of every photo SuperCW ever took, DJs that made me dance like a maniac & a special performance by MONARX (which I missed cause I'm becoming an old lady). Thank you Christa for working so hard & being passionate about putting together amazing events; you're continually raising awareness about the next "IT" event/venue. Hope you had a wonderful birthday & I'm looking forward to all of the fantastic things you've planned for 2012.
PS- Christa will announce her picks of The Best of 2011 (on her blog) later on this week! Be sure to check out her blog for the 2011 winners.
PSS- If there's only a handful of events, you attend throughout the year, make sure you RSVP to anything SuperCW related.

My first encounter with Mojo Barbershop was the amazing promo video, produced for Manifest Hawaii's 2011 Man Challenge. The promo video showcases Mojo Barbershop's precision & expertise, as they carry out their motto, "Stay Handsome Hawaii."
Here's the Man Challenge promo:
Whenever I hear someone praise an eatery or business, I make a mental post-it note to check them out in the future; after I heard one of my best friends Riana (@RUDIFIEDmedia) rave about her haircut at Mojo Barbershop, I knew I had to check them out for myself (Riana is very particular about who cuts her hair, just like me).
I'll admit, its intimidating being in a barbershop that caters toward the modern men of Hawaii; I'm not used to mirror covering the interior walls or a gigantic flat screen TV broadcasting the latest basketball game, but after making small talk with the talented Jen Kahuanui I started to feel at ease.
I loved that Jen was patient with me, as she gradually cut more of my bangs & wanted to make sure that I understood, "once its cut, then its gone." I also love that the beverages offered in Mojo Barbershop feature one of my favorite iced cold drinks: Red Bull. Mojo Barbershop also offers iced cold beer to enjoy while experienced barbers help keep you handsome.
Fellas, are looking to increase their mojo & if there's any ladies interested in a change of atmosphere, when you're getting a haircut? Check out Mojo Barbershop on Bethel Street & experience the throwback barbershop difference.
*Ladies if you can't figure out what to get the special man in your life for Christmas, remember that ALL Mojo Barbershop gift cards come with a $10 credit toward products!*

These past few weeks Riana (@RUDIFIEDmedia) & I have stressed about reaching 808SPEAKERBOX's $3,000 kickstarter goal. We experienced moments of doubt & tried to figure out where we would get funding, in case we didn't reach our goal by Saturday (12/10). Despite the possibility of failing our goal, we were determined to promote our cause until the very last minute.
Promoting 808SPEAKERBOX's kickstarter is one less worry beacuse we exceeded our $3,000 goal yesterday! When Riana told me that 808SPEAKERBOX reached its kickstarter goal, I couldn't believe it & I'm still in shock that it happened.
I just want to give a heartfelt, "Thank You" to everyone whose supported 808SPEAKERBOX, whether that support was financial or spreading the word about our event (Facebook, Twitter, online articles), it means more than you can imagine & 808SPEAKERBOX sincerely appreciates all of your love.
Riana & I will do our very best to make ensure 808SPEAKERBOX showcases & celebrates Hawaii's hip hop talent & community.

Sometimes, people become so transfixed on accomplishing a goal, that we don't take time to appreciate the beauty all around us & I'm guilty of doing this. After learning Patrick Martinez's, "Reel Tawlk" exhibition would bring attention to Americans struggling with the American dream, I knew his new work would change my perspective.
These past few months, I've been struggling to find a full-time job & trying to figure out how to pay my bills gives me anxiety. I'm easily overwhelmed, whenever I think about money & that's when its necessary for me to step back & re-evaluate what's important in my life. When I'm stressed, I enjoy looking at art, even though, I don't understand the terminology or concepts, art makes me feel alive.
Last night, I was mesmerized by the bright neon lights in Patrick Martinez's, "BLUE WITHOUT GREEN" sign & hypnotized after learning it translated into, “melancholy without money.” I never realized how long I stood in front of the "BLUE WITHOUT GREEN" sign, until a few people questioned why I stared so long. My fascination with that art piece increased, after Jasper Wong pointed out the other neon signs had various words describing money (thanks Jasper for the tidbit:).
I was mesmerized by these words for an hour:
Congratulations Patrick! Your "Reel Tawlk" new works exhibition was phenomenal, I loved that your artwork had an instant connection with my (current) life situation. Your "BLUE WITHOUT GREEN" neon sign helped me remember, there's more important things in life, than making money & pursuing your passion(s) is one of them.
If you're in the mood for art & culture, be sure to check out Patrick Martinez's "Reel Tawlk" new works exhibition, viewable to the public from 12/08 - 01/07/12 at Loft in Space.

Life has a funny sense of humor. Even though, we have ideas of what we'd like to accomplish, we're always thrown a curve ball that makes us re-evaluate the direction of where we're headed next. I'm grateful for everyone that's supported & helped spread the word about 808SPEAKERBOX.
Just wanted to give a SUPER shout out to Contrast magazine for helping to raise awareness about the upcoming 808SPEAKERBOX event happening Saturday (1/7/12) at Next Door & Thirtyninehotel. Also wanted to give them a heartfelt thank you for spreading the word about our kickstarter that needs serious love.
