POW WOW Hawaii's Live Painting & Open Studio

Last Friday (2/18), I went to Fresh Cafe to meet a friend & only intended to stay for an hour. As I waited for my acai bowl, it was torture because I desperately wanted to check out the live painting & open studio; which was an opportunity for the public to see art brought to life. Everywhere I looked art was being manifested: the smell of spray paint hung in the air, I watched artists being interviewed via HYPEBEAST, listened as the sound of power tools were used & felt like art was seeping into my pores.

I loved that you were able to connect with POW WOW artists; it was exciting being able to find out the meaning behind the artist's work in progress vs. reading about it in an article. I also learned about how some of the artists' past continued to influence their work.

One hour quickly turned into four & I enjoyed every minute of the live painting & open studio. I'm still thrilled to see how much the artists accomplished before the official opening night at Loft in Space. This experience reminded me that good things take time & they're definitely worth the wait.

Here's some of my favorite pictures from the event:
