Earlier this year, I decided to create a blog to gain experience & exposure in the field of promotion, which happens to be the degree I'm currently purusing. I sent numerous emails to bands & businesses that I was interested in promoting & made it known to the twitterverse, "anyone interested in being featured in a blog post to contact me via email." One of the first emails I received was from two DJs known as Astronauts By Night.When I first heard about the DJ duo Astronauts By Night, I thought these two friends wanted to be astronauts while growing up. Unfortunately, neither dreamed of flying in a rocketship. DJ Cozy

(Jason Grehawick) originally wanted their group to be called Urban Astronauts, however, that name was already taken. After brainstorming ideas, they came up with Astronauts By Night, since they wanted the group's name to reflect music they spun which would send people into space
(metaphorically speaking, of course).
DJ Cozy & Tron met in high school, but the two rarely hungout. Astronauts By Night is another example of how music brings people together. One day Tron asked Cozy to teach him how to DJ, after learning the basics & buying his own turntable, Tron convinced Cozy to spin trance & house music. Both DJs discovered their taste in music complimented one another's & after their first gig, they saw the crowd's reaction & decided they would continue spinning together.
When Astronauts By Night isn't performing at an event, the DJ-ing duo are busy with their bi-weekly recordings every Wednesday & Thursday. A unique aspect of Astronauts By Night is the fact that they seek out & promote DJs that don't have the opportunity to spin at the clubs on a regular basis. They do this by allowing the guest DJ to be featured in one their mixes & usually give them a 30 - 40 time slot. Astronauts By Night is also busy slowly learning the process of creating their own music, in order to stand out from the crowd.
If you're interested in seeing Astronauts By Night perform live, you have three chances to see them this weekend: 10/29 at the iSCREAM event located at the BASSMENT (the old Scan Design Building). 10/30 at Wet n' Wild water park, where Astronauts By Night will be handing out exclusive haunted wonderland mix called, "Journey to Ill Hill" & on 10/31 at the BOAY 15 event located at Kaka'ako Waterfront Beach Park.
